Flame resistance and rapid self-extinguishing
ISO 340 standard establishes the requirements and test method to evaluate the flammability of conveyor belts on a laboratory scale. Its objective is to ensure that the belts have flame-resistant properties, meaning they can self-extinguish quickly and not reignite once extinguished.
Test method:
- Flames are applied to 6 samples (3 in the warp direction and 3 in the weft direction).
- Each sample must extinguish in less than 15 seconds after removing the flame.
- The total sum of the extinguishing times must not exceed 45 seconds.
- The flame must not reappear when applying an air current.
When an esbelt® belt complies with ISO 340, it means that the belt
- Is flame-resistant and can self-extinguish quickly after removing the flame and does not reignite.
- Reduces the risk of fire spreading in industrial environments where there are combustible materials.
- Has passed the specific tests (maximum extinguishing time and absence of reignition) according to the ISO 340 method.
- Is ideal for facilities where fire protection is essential, such as in sugar mills, airports, logistics and distribution centers.
In summary, a belt with ISO 340 offers greater fire safety, complying with international standards for demanding environments.
