Wicking resistance

About this property

Wicking or fluid absorption (in English, wicking) occurs when a fabric absorbs a liquid or oil. Las bandas esbelt® wick resistant belts with low-wicking fabrics prevent the absorption of water and oils, increasing hygiene in food applications.

The absorption of liquids or oils by the lower fabric of a conveyor belt can lead to problems such as delamination or separation of fabrics. In food applications, microorganisms can be absorbed by the belt’s fabric through wicking, promoting their spread throughout the fabric and making it difficult to clean.

Our wick resistant belts are made with fabrics that receive a special treatment and pass the Wicking Test G11, a concept defined in an FDA guideline from June 2011, chapter G section 11. Según la prueba, las bandas con soporte textil deben probarse con un colorante alimentario formulado con agua: penetraciones superiores a 1 mm no son aceptables.

The thermoplastic polyurethane belts in our Standard and Premium TPU series feature low-wicking fabrics wick resistant. Aparte de llevar tejidos impermeabilizados, la gama TPU Premium está formulado con poliuretano con característica anti-hidrólisis.
